Objectives

  • Preserve grazing to keep landscapes open and maintain biodiversity.
  • Support grazing practices to maintain mountain areas and reduce fire risk.
  • Create the necessary grazing facilities to encourage livestock presence on summer pastures.
  • Identify pastoral areas away from recreational visitor flows.
  • Maintain the use of essential complementary tools, such as agricultural brush cutters and controlled burning.
  • Support initiatives that promote the use of mountain areas through grazing as an economic resource and ensure its continuity.

Project actions

  • Conduct a comprehensive inventory of the territory (including its characteristics, challenges and key issues), along with surveys of transhumant livestock farmers in mountain areas, in order to determine levels and types of pastoral use.
  • Establish an initial compilation of cartographic data on existing pastoral facilities and conduct surveys among key stakeholders using mountain areas.

This call for microprojects has been funded with the surplus of the Spain–France–Andorra Territorial Cooperation Operational Programme (POCTEFA) 2007–2013, which was transferred to the Member States (Spain and France) as national contributions, thus losing its status as ERDF funds.
This call was managed jointly by all the institutional partners listed below.
With a budget of €575,000, it financed 100% of the eligible expenses of the territorial cooperation micro-projects presented on this website.
