Aragón Bearn Candanchu Somport
A sports project aimed at promoting cross-country skiing, biathlon and winter outdoor activities in the cross-border region of Béarn (Pyrénées-Atlantiques department) and the province of Huesca (Aragon, Spain).

3 main objectives :
- Train young people in cross-country skiing (training sessions, courses, etc.).
- Promote and introduce Nordic skiing to French and Spanish schoolchildren.
- Organise roller skiing and Nordic skiing events.

Project actions
- Organise the Franco-Spanish summer cross-country (roller skiing) race as part of the associations’ fair in Jaca and Oloron, with accommodation provided by host families of participating young people.
- Organise a across-border cross-country skiing camp at the Somport resort.
- A cross-country skiing race in Somport–Candanchú, highlighting the cross-border dimension between Aragon and Béarn.
Results
- Social and sporting exchanges between two neighbouring valleys that had, until now, experienced limited interaction. The shared experiences in educational and social contexts were highly valued by all participants.
- Continuation of activities, which have proven highly successful, with around 40 young people currently involved in these activities.

Acknowledgements
This call for microprojects has been funded with the surplus of the Spain–France–Andorra Territorial Cooperation Operational Programme (POCTEFA) 2007–2013, which was transferred to the Member States (Spain and France) as national contributions, thus losing its status as ERDF funds.
This call was managed jointly by all the institutional partners listed below.
With a budget of €575,000, it financed 100% of the eligible expenses of the territorial cooperation micro-projects presented on this website.
