The SYLVONATUR project aims to promote the exchange of experiences, knowledge and expertise between three forestry associations across the Pyrenees, going beyond traditional timber-focused forest management.

Objectives

This project stems from the need to integrate new experiences and exchange knowledge among forest managers, owners, users and, more broadly, all stakeholders involved in mountain areas on both sides of the Pyrenees.

Project actions

The activities carried out consisted of visits aimed at highlighting the challenges faced by each partner and the methods used to address them.

Results

SYLVONATUR helps us discover all the facets of multifunctional forest management, covering aspects such as forest fire prevention, the conservation and even enhancement of forest biodiversity, water management, CO2 sequestration, pastoral use of the forest, forest regeneration, associated rural development, social use and recreational spaces, etc.

Acknowledgements

This call for microprojects has been funded with the surplus of the Spain–France–Andorra Territorial Cooperation Operational Programme (POCTEFA) 2007–2013, which was transferred to the Member States (Spain and France) as national contributions, thus losing its status as ERDF funds.
This call was managed jointly by all the institutional partners listed below.
With a budget of €575,000, it financed 100% of the eligible expenses of the territorial cooperation micro-projects presented on this website.
